The family leaves Hong Kong - 1941 Hong Kong fell to the Japanese Army on 25 Dec 1941. About 2 weeks after that event, Chu Moy … and her extended family fled the city. Kam Wing Choy as the oldest male had responsibility for arrangements. The group also included:
The group left Hong Kong by overnight ferry to Zhongshan, then to Heshan, and on to the village at Gaoyao. The trip involved a ferry, a boat, bicycles, sedan chairs and walking. Dad recalls it took 4 or 5 days. |
